An American Art family

We want to share our passion of Art with you.  We find that Art is an approach to living that helps us to bond as a family as well as interact with the world around us. Perhaps you are an artist, have a career in art or appreciate the aestetic world around you, then you know what we are talking about! Regardless of how you had come to our site, we do not consider it an accident. We hope that you find a word of encouragement, a chunk of wisdom, or an insight into a new process for viewing and creating art.

Not just a website...This site is representative of our ongoing work and life on the land we call "Souhegan". In 2003 we had moved to this seven acre plot within the Inner Banks of North Carolina into our old farm house. The architecture is of a by gone era. Before the manufactured homes that dot the Inner Banks, many homes had large sloped roofs, one story and a half high for wind protection. Our Carolina Coastal Cottage was built in 1826.( to think that colonist were still fighting indians then!)  The acreage contains native Carolina Cherry Laurel, Blueberry bushes planted by the former family and a family graveyard dating back prior to the civil war.

A work in progress - You will find the inspiration of "Souhegan" within our artwork. The inspiration in living on such a plot of land can be found in the Pop Art style canvas' of the "15 collection", the hand thrown pottery created on site, to the fresh bread, baked in the main house. The past history of this American home inspires us to establish a sound foundation for the future.

Challenged to explore - We extend a invitation to you to explore this site, bring a bit of our heart into your home, or visit us anytime that you are around the area . Contact us to arrange a visit or to share your experience with us.

Tom

Kilian is a sculptor, whose work has shown in modern galleries and whose public art has been considered by United States cities. Kilian is the founder of Inner Banks Arts, former columnist for Life in Art Magazine in Tampa Florida, and the Artist who has created the Darfur Monument that has resulted in a new mission in Darfur. His work can be purchased on this site.

Thomas

Started "throwing" clay at the age of seven, now thirteen, he has a vast collection of work and has expanded past the wheel carrying ideas and concepts onto pastel works and wood. Clay still seems to be a kindred medium for Thomas and his work is a sure investment for those wanting to decorate their home, or to sip their coffee from a hand thrown original work. His new website can be seen here.

Isabel

In charge of Homeland security at "Souhegan", Isabel was given to us shortly after Hurricane Isabel had ravaged the coast of Carolina back in 2003. In the winter months she can be viewed as a perminate fixture beside the wood stove. Spring, Summer and Fall, she retrieves everything from bones to injured birds.

Sandie Lea

As an accomplished baker she has shared her baked goods with the coastal town of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, where she ran "The Daily Bread" - a bakery and delivery service specializing in fresh breads, muffins and rolls that were prized at coffee cafes, colleges and doctors offices. Sandie is currently developing her blue ribbon talent to be showcased in a cook and bake book that will be available in the near future.

Helen Juniper

Although you will see some of her pottery around, she has a passion for a contemporary form of abstract work depicting aliens. In a more traditional sense, Helen also enjoys loom work, and Candy making. so if aliens aren't your cup of tea, perhaps a set of woven potholders and some of Helen's soft rock candy would be fitting!

Willie Goat and Julie

aka, MBCD's (manual bush control device) these two minature goats do their chore well of cleaning up the brush around the old place. Always eager to show some affection for the reward of some goat chow.

Little Henry

Little compared to the Hens, - Henry doubles as a good alarm clock and a goat alert.
